Weekly Local Standouts
In many towns north of Boston, people are setting regular times and places to stand with signs, making the resistance movement visible in between big rallies in urban centers. Here are four examples:
Arlington - Thursday evenings 7 pm at Mass Ave and Linwood St. - part of the interfaith Beacon Project
Beverly: Saturdays at noon
Lynn: Wednesday Walkouts for Medicaid in Lynn
Route 2: The Arlington Visibility Brigade is gathering on the northern footbridge over Rte 2 on Thursdays 4:30- 5:30 pm.
If You Are Free During the Day
Indivisible of Lexington, Arlington, Bedford and Beyond holds regular Action Hours, and this Wednesday, May 14 at 10:30, long-time organizer Enid Eckstein will discuss the upcoming Progressive Massachusetts Lobby Day on May 28, some of which will focus on protecting people in our state from federal cuts and attacks.
Meet the Democratic AGs Fighting Trump
State Attorneys General are among the most powerful forces fighting the Trump Agenda. The 5 Democratic AG’s from New England are coming to Boston on Friday “to talk about how they are confronting the federal administration's damaging and unlawful actions.” You can get tickets here and it will also be live-streamed here.
Tap the Political Power of Humor
Humor not only makes activism more fun, it is also an extremely effective political tool. Swing Blue is sponsoring an online workshop: Laughtivism: The Power of Humor in Nonviolent Struggle at 8pm on Thursday, May 15. They’ll review how the Serbian group Otpor used humor in their struggle, and then brainstorm ideas for today’s defense of democracy.
One hilarious spoof group is Trillionaires for Trump, who imitate the super-rich to mock the oligarchy. They have a DIY Guide on their website.

Keep Boycotting Target
Target hasn’t restored its DEI policies, so the boycott continues. Store foot traffic has dropped significantly, and Target’s CEO has seen his pay drop 90%! Keep an eye on the boycott’s website, where you can also sign their pledge.
If you like to sing or play music
BVOCAL is a chorus that sings at protests in greater Boston — sign up here. And if you play an instrument (especially brass, woodwind, or percussion) and want to add musical energy to protests, consider joining BABAM!, the Boston Area Brigade of Activist Musicians. It's open to everyone and plays simple music to rally for good.
Upcoming Events
